A winter storm will hit the Northeast Tuesday morning through early Wednesday, and is expected to leave between 6 and 12 inches of snow in its wake.
The storm will spread from the midwest to the East Coast on Tuesday morning, disrupting travel from southern Illinois to Massachusetts. New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. will see the strongest snowfall, although less snow will hit upstate New York, northwestern New England, and northern Pennsylvania. Weather.com noted that blizzard conditions are possible in southeast Massachusetts.
Over 1,700 flights had already been canceled early Tuesday morning, Bloomberg reports, and federal offices in Washington D.C. remained closed in anticipation of the storm. The Northeast will stay below freezing throughout the week, and even Miami will see average temperatures drop to 10 to 20 degrees below normal.
