At least one person died in a massive 50-car pileup outside Philadelphia, apparently caused by the severe snowstorm currently lashing the northeast United States.
The accident took place on the Pennsylvania Turnpike about 12.30 p.m. on Sunday in the westbound lanes between Downington and Morgantown, reports local station WPVI.
At least four other accidents were reported on Interstate 476 and three on Interstate 95, in Delaware County. Drivers are cautioned to look out for freezing rain, sleet and snow.
Correction: The headline and original version of this story misstated where the 50-car pileup took place. It was near Morgantown, Pa.
