Glenn Greenwald And eBay Founder Partnering On New Media Venture

The Guardian's Brazil-based reporter Glenn Greenwald, who was among the first to reveal Washington's vast electronic surveillance program.

Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who broke the NSA scandal for the Guardian and announced Tuesday that he’s leaving the newspaper, is starting a new media project with eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, according to multiple reports.

Two sources told Reuters of the new partnership, and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour reported that Omidyar said he’s funding the venture:

Greenwald, a Brazil-based journalist who received the massive trove of NSA documents from admitted leader Edward Snowden, said Tuesday that he couldn’t reveal anything about the new venture, but that it’s a “once-in-a-career dream journalistic opportunity.”

Forbes says that Omidyar, 46, has a net worth of $8.5 billion. Many of his tweets relate to the NSA scandal:
