After 21 straight drawings without a winner, including a luckless drawing Friday, the next Mega Millions prize has now surged to $550 million.
The new jackpot, which would net $295 million in cash for a winner, is the second-largest ever in history of Mega Millions and the fourth-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, USA Today reports.
Chances of winning are 1 in 259 million, but sales in Oregon they rose to almost 400% above normal and Virginia sales were up almost 600%. Officials will draw again on Tuesday.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot on record was $656 million in March 2012.
