Heartless thieves crashed through a California church’s gym window on Friday and stole every last morsel of food set aside for a free Thanksgiving meal for the needy.
“What was given already was so significant,” Charlotte Barbee, the youth minister at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Sacramento, told CBS. “They took all of the turkeys that we had, all of the trimmings, potatoes, yams.”
But following a public appeal, the local community rallied around to make up for the shortfall. Even those who have never attended a church service have offered replacement meat, vegetables and even a lock for the freezer. Thanks to local generosity, this year’s feast may now be better catered than ever.
