One Phoenix police officer has died and another was critically injured during a shootout that occurred while they were serving a felony warrant on Monday. The suspect, who a Phoenix police spokesman said had a felony warrant out for his arrest, was also killed in the shootout, AZCentral.com reports.
According to the spokesman, the man was driving a white sedan being pursued by the detectives when he collided with a truck at an intersection and ran from the vehicle. The police spokesman said the man “exchanged gunfire” with the officers and was killed in the exchange. A witness said he heard about eight shots.
The names of the suspect and the officers have not been disclosed.
