A Spirit Airlines flight was struck by lightning while headed to Atlantic City International Airport on Thursday. No passengers were injured, the Press of Atlantic City reports.
Flight 262 was heading into New Jersey from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The plane was grounded once it landed safely in Atlantic City, delaying a flight to Orlando scheduled for Thursday evening. According to ABC News, people are 560 times more likely to be struck by lightning while in an aircraft and most commercial planes are hit at least once a year.
