A 1,500-foot-long trail of cars jammed up a stretch of a Massachusetts highway Sunday when 65 vehicles collided due to icy roads.

Slick conditions caused 61 cars, two trailer trucks and two six-wheel trucks to crash, injuring 35 people on a stretch of Route 290 in Worcester, Mass., state police said. Emergency responders had difficulty accessing the scene because the roads were unsalted, NBC reports.

A man and woman were seriously injured but their conditions were unknown.

Authorities bused 60 people from the scene.
