A lawyer for the woman who was killed in a police chase that briefly put the Capitol on lock-down last month is calling for the Department of Justice to investigate what happened.
Eric Sanders said in a letter that police mishandled the situation when they shot Miriam Carey after she drove into a White House Barrier on Oct. 3 and then fled to Capitol Hill, the Associated Press reports. Carey reportedly believed she was under constant surveillance and that she had previously communicated with President Barack Obama.
Washington, D.C. police are already investigating the incident.
