The woman who sparked a scandal that rattled the Duke campus when she accused three lacrosse players of rape was convicted of second-degree murder Friday in the stabbing of her boyfriend.

Crystal Mangum, 34, was sentenced to 14 to 18 years in prison for stabbing Reginald Daye on April 3, 2011. He died 10 days later, the Associated Press reports.

Mangum claimed in 2006 that the players gang-raped her at a team party where she was hired as a stripper, but the case was dropped as her story came into question.
