New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie cancelled a Thursday morning speech to a government watchdog group in Philadelphia, with his spokesman saying the newly-reelected governor caught a cold.
“The governor is fighting off a cold and has had to cut back his morning schedule tomorrow,” spokesman Colin Reed said in a statement Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Christie still plans to attend a scheduled 11:30 a.m. event at Newark Liberty Airport. He’s been riding high ever since winning a landslide reelection in the blue state last week, which cemented his status as a leading 2016 presidential candidate.
