Silk Road, the hidden website where users could by drugs and other illicit goods, is back online after being taken down in an FBI sting more than a month ago.
The re-launched Silk Road is much like the old—narcotics like heroin and ecstasy for sale in a market that runs on the cryptocurrency Bitcoin—but promises stronger security. The site went offline following the arrest of Ross Ulbricht, who authorities allege was the mastermind behind the site and operated under the name Dread Pirate Roberts.
A Twitter account under the name Dread Pirate Roberts, active since October 25, announced Silk Road was back up Wednesday morning and said traffic to the site was “surging.”
