Rescue workers successfully extracted a 19-year-old New York University student, Asher Vongtau, from a space between a dormitory and a garage, on Sunday night. The operation reportedly took about 90 minutes, with firefighters forced to break through a concrete wall.

According to a report in NYU Local, Vongtau had been trapped between the two structures for more than 35 hours. The student was conscious and in stable condition after being rescued and was sent to a local hospital.

A firefighter on the scene told AP that Vongtau could have only entered the space from above but offered no further details on how the student ended up there.
