Police evacuated a terminal at Miami International Airport early Wednesday morning and the bomb squad was on site after a bomb-sniffing dog smelled something that aroused suspicion.
The Miami Herald reports that Miami-Dade police were investigating “a possible explosive device” in Terminal J just after 7 a.m. Planes were diverted from the terminal, police spokesman Robin Pinkard said. By 9 a.m., the threat was cleared and terminal operations were getting back to normal.
Terminal J hosts Aerolineas Argentinas, Air Canada, Air Jamaica, Avianca, Lufthansa, Swiss, TACA, TAM, TAP and US Airways.
Updated 9:15 a.m.: This post has been updated to reflect the terminal’s re-opening.
