Alabama officials are reporting that the four Tennesseans who were found shot to death last week had killed themselves as part of a suicide pact, leaving behind messages proclaiming their innocence over allegations of child pornography.

According to a local sheriff, two of the victims, a husband and wife, were scheduled to appear in court the day their bodies were discovered in their home state. They had been charged in an FBI investigation for possession of child pornography. The other two victims had not been formally charged but were also under investigation.

“Each left a note and the note … basically was pleading their innocence in these allegations and they wanted the families to make certain arrangements for their funerals,” Sheriff Rick Harris told a local TV station.
