John and Roberta Frew were in their living room watching T.V. with their son, John Jr., when they heard a knock at the door. It was their estranged daughter, Josephine Ruckinger, armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, and her husband armed with two handguns. Shots rang out in the household. Roberta and John Jr. were killed. The father then drew a revolver on the assailants, killing his daughter and her husband. Investigators are still establishing a motive, though a relative said the daughter had a long-standing “hatred toward the family.”
