The second girl accused in the 2012 stabbing of a 16-year-old West Virginia girl pleaded not guilty to the murder of her former best friend on Tuesday, the Charleston Daily Mail reports.
Seventeen-year-old Sheila Eddy, who will be tried as an adult, is accused of conspiring with Rachel Shoaf to murder their ex-friend Skylar Neese by luring her into the woods and then stabbing her multiple times. Neese was considered missing for six months until Shoaf finally told authorities where to find her body, according to ABC news. Eddy helped the family search during that time, and when Neese’s body was identified she tweeted: “Rest easy Skylar. You’ll always be my best friend. I miss you more than you could ever know.”
Neese’s father, Dave Neese, told ABC that Eddy can finally “get what she has coming.”
“If you’re innocent, you don’t cover something up for nine months or however long it was,” Neese said. “You don’t come to somebody’s house the next day after you murder somebody and walk up and down the street and try to look for the person that you murdered. That’s not an innocent person.”
