The annual 'Tribute in Light' memorial echoing the twin towers of the World Trade Center

At 8:46 a.m., the moment the first plane struck the north tower of the World Trade Center, a crowd in Memorial Plaza will go silent and houses of worship will toll their bells in remembrance of the victims, nearly 3,000 people, who lost their lives 12 years ago this day. Family members of the victims will come to the podium and read the names of the deceased. They will stop five times throughout the ceremony to mark the moments of impact of three more flights and the moments the two towers collapsed. The ceremony is expected to conclude at 12:30 pm, once the complete list of names has been read.
