The creator of the well-known “Girls Gone Wild” video series was sentenced Tuesday to 270 days in jail for choking a woman and repeatedly slamming her head to the ground at his Los Angeles mansion in 2011, the Associated Press reports.

The incident took place after Francis met three women during an early 2011 college graduation party in Hollywood, prosecutors said. He grabbed one by the arm and took her to his limo, and the other two followed, thinking they’d be taken to their car. Instead they ended up at Francis’ Bel Air home, where Francis tried to lead the first woman away, but her friend intervened. Francis then “jumped on the friend, took her to the ground, choked her, slammed her head against the ground, dragged her across the ground, and when she got back up, did it several more times,” Deputy City Attorney Mitchell Fox said.”

Francis has maintained his innocence and his lawyer said he’d be appealing his conviction in May on five misdemeanor charges. He’s been ordered undergo anger management and psychological counseling.
