San Antonio tops the list of the 50 most military-friendly cities in the United States.

The roster was put together by G.I. Jobs magazine from among the nation’s 381 metropolitan areas, meaning only 12.5% of the nation’s cities made the cut.

It was calculated by toting up military-friendly employers and schools, veteran-owned businesses, as well as local economic conditions like the unemployment rate and cost of living.

Texas accounted for 15% of the total, with seven cities, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, El Paso, Corpus Christi and Killeen ranking among the 50. “Texas has a long and proud history,” Governor Rick Perry says, “of supporting our active duty men and women in uniform, our veterans and their families.”

Other big cities charting included Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
