Two Peas In a Pod

Battleland recently noted that Rep. Roscoe Bartlett – chairman of the House Armed Services Committee’s tactical air and land forces subcommittee – has a strange fascination with survivalship (a word we just made up). We wondered just how well-suited the Maryland Republican, someone who’s convinced the end of the world as we know it may be near, is to oversee a panel responsible for assessing threats, and guiding the resulting purchase of tens of billions of dollars in weapons every year.

Worth noting that the same committee’s seapower and projection forces subcommittee is headed by Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo. He’s the Senate candidate who’s in hot water with the GOP for saying that the bodies of women who are the victims of “legitimate rape” often avoid becoming pregnant because of some reproductive trick unknown to the medical community at large.

Battleland is sure Akin is well-suited to tend to the nation’s legitimate defense needs.
