Maj. Trevor Hill drops a memorial wreath into the Atlantic Ocean on top of the ashes of Lambertsen, a World War II veteran and pioneer of military combat diving

Christian Lambertsen, a World War II combat diver from the Office of Strategic Services, the precursor to the CIA, conducted his final mission March 10 when his ashes were committed to the Atlantic Ocean. There was a small ceremony as his remains were placed into the water off Key West, Fla., near where today’s special-ops divers train. Dr. Lambert was 93 when he died last month. The Army’s full report is here.
