Where’s Samuel L. Jackson when you need him?

A California teacher was arrested Wednesday after authorities discovered hundreds of snakes in his Orange County home, Associated Press reports. A search of 55-year-old William Buchman’s home turned up more than 400 snakes — about half of which were dead.

“The smell alone — I feel like I need to take a shower for a week,” Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told AP.

Buchman’s neighbors said the odor from his house had been rancid for months. Sondra Berg of the Santa Ana Police Department’s Animal Services Division told AP her department had previously interacted with Buchman, who was involved with a type of snake cross-breeding called “morphing.”

Buchman remained in police custody Wednesday evening, but has not yet been charged with any crime.
