Teens suffering from “affluenza,” a condition of degenerative judgement brought about by fat allowances, manicured lawns and butlers, may no longer find much sympathy in a California courtroom.

The Los Angeles Times reports that a bill introduced by assemblyman Mike Gatto will outlaw “affluenza” as a legal defense.

The bill comes in response to the trial of a Texas teen who killed four people in a drunk-driving accident. His defense argued that he was really under the influence of “affluenza.” The teen was sentenced to probation and sent to a posh rehab center in Newport Beach, where he is believed to be recovering comfortably.
