Power outages in Michigan and Maine resulting from winter storm Gemini move into their sixth day as a new winter system threatens to drop more snow and ice on storm-weary citizens.
Roughly 30,000 customers remained without power in Michigan Saturday, down from 399,000 after a weekend ice storm hit the state, USA Today reports. Without power for heating, residents are left to survive temperatures in the 30s with dwindling fuel supplies, blankets and extra clothing.
In Maine, 4,500 customers remained without power Saturday and some in the hardest hit areas could remain without power as late as Wednesday.
Maine expects as much as seven inches of snow Sunday, plus more ice that can bring down limbs and cause new problems.
