A bizarre mix of heat waves and deadly ice storms rolled across the northeast on Sunday.

Reuters reports that the weather system broke record highs in several major cities, with temperatures topping 67 degrees in Philadelphia, 68 degrees in Atlantic City and 71 degrees in New York.

Meanwhile ice storms and tornadoes lashed upstate New York and parts of New England. At least seven people died in the severe weather. High winds and poor visibility downed hundreds of flight and slowed traffic to a crawl.
