A Denver teen who was shot in the head at a school shooting at Arapahoe High School earlier this month, died Saturday due to severe injuries, hospital officials said.

Claire Davis, 17, was shot at point-blank range by 18-year-old Karl Pierson on Dec. 13. Pierson, armed with a shotgun, Molotov cocktails, a machete and ammunition, was believed to be seeking out a librarian with whom he had an argument with over the debate team. Pierson fired off five shots and ignited one of the explosives before killing himself.

“The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger,” the family said in a statement.
