Clara Gantt, the 94-year-old widow of U.S. Army Sgt. Joseph Gantt, weeps in front of her husband's casket after it was lowered from the plane before dawn on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California Dec. 20.

After six decades, 94-year-old Clara Gantt’s wait to be reunited with her husband is finally over.

Instead of welcoming him with open arms, however, Gantt was greeted Friday with a flag-draped coffin.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Gantt died as a prisoner of war in 1951 during the Korean War. He was presumed dead for more than 60 years until his remains were identified at the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command and forensics labs in Honolulu, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Despite the immeasurable pain, Clara said she was grateful to finally be together again.

“I am so happy that I was living to accept him,” she said.

Gantt will be buried in Inglewood, California this month, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Delving into the records of missing pow/MIA records is truly mind blowing. With the advancements of DNA testing I hope more people can be brought the peace they need and deserve. Bless this beautiful woman and the love she continues to have for her long lost husband. That emotion on her face says it all. To all those that serve, thank you for your sacrifices and I hope this is proof that no amount of time will erase your sacrifices

Now she can die in peace. My mother was found after missing for five years. One can never fully explain the emotion when a loved one is found. It is a tidal wave of grief, love, anger and relief regardless of the life lived in the meantime.

You have to ask yourself:  Is there anybody who would mourn my passing like that after six decades?  And am I capable of that kind of love myself?

Setting this photo in contrast to what passes for "love relationships" so often now, or to the hookups and Lena Dunham wisdom and rap lyrics about b#$ches and whatever else...

I hope this beautiful woman finds peace.

What a powerful story of the ultimate sacrifice, a nation's gratitude, and enduring love.

Sgt. Gantt's life ended far too early, but in one important respect he was far luckier than many other men who lived far longer. RIP and thank you for your service.

So happy this family finally had their loved one returned home.  My family has been trying for many years to try to find my uncle's body.  He also died in a POW camp during the Korean War.  Hopefully there will be more stories like this.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Gantt, May God continue to bless her.  At the age of 94 she has been a blessing I'm sure to so many people.  I couldn't help but to shed tears for her.  Bless her heart!  She will be in my prayers daily!
