Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray announced Monday that he will seek a second term leading the city, ending months of speculation stemming from corruption allegations from his last campaign.

Gray’s decision comes less than two weeks after the District’s top federal prosecutor suggested that charges are possible from a long-running investigation into Gray’s last mayoral campaign. Four people affiliated with that campaign have already pleaded guilty to felony charges, the Washington Post reports.

Gray, a former member of Washington’s City Council, won the mayoralty in 2010 by unseating incumbent Mayor Adrian Fenty, before winning more than 74 percent of the vote in the general election in the heavily-Democratic city. He will square off against a field of Democratic candidates in the party’s primary on April 1, and the general election will take place next November.
