Man Keeps Filming As Tornado Destroys His House

This is what it's like to be at home when Mother Nature comes calling

You need nerves of steel to be stuck inside your house and to keep filming while a tornado rips it apart. The Washington, Ill. resident who captured this footage last Sunday apparently qualifies.

Had a brief thought about them commenting on material lose but then realized it was shock! It was only seconds he was in the basement before coming up to devastation. I was in an accident where my car rolled & u go from shock to anger. I freaked & yelled "who hit me?" I know my situation isn't the same but there's a moment of irrational thoughts. I hope this family well trying to rebuild their home. U spend a life time building a life & in seconds ur life is turned upside down!

I think that man did have all the answers. On his own, he recognized he was in shock. He thought to tell his wife to exit the house before the structure could fall on them. He even reminds her to watch for the nails on the floor. Hopefully we all could be so aware in the face of a catastrophe.They suffered a great loss. You should hold the criticism. Why is modern day life so full of judgement and criticism?

Gotta love these people who have all the answers who have never been in this life or death situation and don't know exactly how they react.

This is interesting because .....why? That he was so scared he forgot to shut off the camera while hiding in the dark basement, and resumed his filming after the storm had passed? If that's the definition of nerves of steel......

@archiezamora  Yeah lets pray; god will rewind the whole thing and undo it.

@Denesius This is interesting because

1)While I've seen plenty of shots of tornados passing near the filmer's home, I've never seen anyone capture a tornado as it destroyed most of their house WHILE THEY WERE STILL INSIDE IT, so even just the audio is remarkable. 2)It's one thing to record a scene of devastation affecting someone else's property, or coming back to your own place hours or days after a calamity. But I think it takes balls to record the elimination of your home  seconds after you've just escaped with your life.
