A California plastic surgeon is facing felony charges for allegedly performing extra procedures during a nose job and then charging the patient’s insurance company.

Prosecutors say the surgeon, Jay Calvert, also lied under oath during the victim’s 2010 lawsuit, the Los Angeles Times reports.  Calvert faces felony counts of medical insurance fraud, manufacturing documents, and perjury. Prosecutors also say the extra procedures caused the victim lasting medical harm.

Calvert, who has practices in Newport and Beverly Hills, allegedly performed the unwanted procedures in 2009 to overcharge the man’s insurance company more than $40,000. Calvert will be arraigned on Dec. 13. If convicted, he could face almost seven years in prison.
