FILE - In this Sept. 27, 2006, file photo, John "Junior" Gotti Jr. exits Manhattan federal court in New York, after his third trial ended in a mistrial.

John A. (Junior) Gotti, 49, the former boss of the Gambino crime family was allegedly stabbed in the stomach in Syosset, N.Y. on Sunday.

Gotti told investigators he was stabbed while trying to break up a fight in the parking lot of a Long Island CVS drugstore, a law enforcement source told the New York Daily News. The Nassau County Police Department and the Nassau County District Attorney are currently investing the case. Gotti, officials have told news sources, is not cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities learned of the incident when a Long Island hospital reported that a patient was being treated for a stab wound. Though Gotti — who is the son of the former John “Teflon Don” Gotti — says he retired from the mob in 1999, he was tried four times for murder and racketeering though he was never convicted. All of the trials ended in mistrials.
