A 16-year-old from the Bronx was charged Sunday evening in the shooting of two young men at a crowded New York City skating rink on Saturday night.
Corey Dunton is being charged as an adult with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police. Shots rang out just after 11 p.m. Saturday, when a gunman opened fire and struck a 14-year-old boy, Adonis Mera, and a 20-year-old unidentified man at the Bryant Park skating rink in Midtown Manhattan. The shooter fled the scene as people took cover, NBC News reports.
Dunton allegedly returned with a gun after one of the victims refused to hand over his coat.
Joe Carella, a spokesman for Bryant Park Corporation, the not-for-profit company that privately manages the park, told NBC News the incident is uncommon at the park.
