Silk Road, the hidden website where users could by drugs and other illicit goods, is back online after being taken down in an FBI sting more than a month ago.

The re-launched Silk Road is much like the old—narcotics like heroin and ecstasy for sale in a market that runs on the cryptocurrency Bitcoin—but promises stronger security. The site went offline following the arrest of Ross Ulbricht, who authorities allege was the mastermind behind the site and operated under the name Dread Pirate Roberts.

A Twitter account under the name Dread Pirate Roberts, active since October 25, announced Silk Road was back up Wednesday morning and said traffic to the site was “surging.”

:-) love it. SR was not just a "site to buy and seek drugs" SR is an idea. The idea that a free market can operate in society without a societal breakdown. Users of SR are only getting items that should be rightful available if one wanted to do whatever to ones body. But SR was so much more there were many legitimate services and goods sold on the site. You don't read about those things in the papers! SR is a community. We believe in this idea and know that it can work! Free trade in a society. We are united through SR, and this will only make us stronger. To shut SR down is irresponsible on whomever does such, pushing the violence back onto the street! SR really makes the world a safer place. Im glad we have our site back
