A Florida man poured gasoline on his girlfriend, threatened to burn her and her son, and then intentionally exposed her to HIV by raping her, police say.

Authorities charged Glen Davis, 48, with multiple counts of arson, domestic violence and criminal transmission of the virus, the Lakeland Ledger reported. Davis and the woman shared a home together with her teenaged son. But last Thursday, after an argument in which he accused her of infidelity, he tried to prevent them from leaving the home, according to police. The quarrel soon became violent when he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and poured gasoline on her, threatening her and the boy with a pair of gardening shears, then set a fire on the kitchen table.

Although the boy escaped, Davis allegedly forced the woman to stay in the house, and forced himself on her without protection.

“He put the scissors to my throat and made me have sex with him,” the woman told Central Florida television station Bay News 9 on Monday. “He said, ‘You’re gonna die one way or another.'”

Davis has been treated for HIV for several years, but the couple had always used protection, police said. Police arrested Davis on Saturday after responding to a domestic disturbance call. The woman was taken to a local hospital and began treatment for exposure to HIV, police said.
