Denver police arrested two juvenile suspects who allegedly broke into a middle school late Monday night.

The Denver Post reports that the two suspects tried to break into Greenwood Elementary School, then an hour later broke into Noel Middle School, where they were spotted by a cleaning crew on Monday night. Police observed the suspects on the school’s security cameras.

Denver Police Chief Robert White said that after a “cat-and-mouse game for about two or three additional hours, we did apprehend the two individuals.” Early reports indicated that they were armed with long rifles and carrying backpacks, but White said that when the suspects were taken into custody they were not armed, though police were sweeping the school for weapons.
