A Texas woman who was stabbed by an intruder lurking in her home as she spoke to her soldier husband via video said Sunday that her daughter was safely delivered by C-section after the stabbing.

Rachel Poole was nine months pregnant when she was beaten and stabbed in her El Paso home last Wednesday night, KFOX 14 reports. Her husband Justin Poole, who is currently deployed in southwest Asia, watched the attack helplessly on the video chat software they were using. Poole gave birth to a healthy daughter immediately after the attack, and is currently recovering. She spoke to KFOX 14 from her hospital bed Sunday evening, and confirmed that she and the baby are doing well.

Police say that that the alleged attacker, Corey Bernard Moss, broke into Poole’s home and waited for her to return. Moss had allegedly damaged a car he borrowed from Poole, and police say that a dispute over money may have led to the stabbing. Poole has been charged with attempted murder, and his bail has increased from $60,000 to $150,000.

Justin Poole was able to come home to visit his wife and newborn daughter. “Once my wife is out of the hospital, let the nation know she will speak up,” Justin Poole told KFOX 14,  “She wants to be more than a number. I see her as a pillar of strength for her struggle to save not only her life, but my daughter’s as well.”
