A Michigan man has hired attorneys to try to collect $25 million after claiming to have tipped off federal officials the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden.

In a letter, sent by Chicago-based firm Loevy & Loevy to FBI Director James Comey, Grand Rapids resident Tom Lee, 63, said he told customs and FBI agents the location of al-Qaeda leader’s Abbottabad compound in 2003, the Associated Press reports.

Lee, a U.S. citizen of Egyptian descent, claims he learned the information from a Pakistani intelligence officer who “was a member of a family that Mr. Lee had done business with for decades,” according to the letter. U.S. officials say Abbottabad was not built until 2005, two years after Lee claims he told the FBI of the location.

The FBI also did not immediately comment.
