A dust storm in Arizona on Tuesday led to multiple crashes on Interstate 10, leaving three people dead and at least a dozen injured.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a dust storm caused chain reaction collisions where 10 commercial vehicles, seven cars, one tanker and one recreational vehicle smashed into each other just after noon. At least one passenger car was pinned between two 18-wheeler trucks. The injured were airlifted to hospitals in Tucson.

According to the National Weather Service, which had issued a dust advisory, gusts of up to 30 miles per hour were reported in the area around the time of the crashes.
