An online campaign to help an Ohio woman who was arrested for stealing change from a fountain so she could buy food has raised more than $14,000.
Police in Bellefontaine, Ohio arrested 38-year-old Deirdre Romine earlier this month for allegedly taking $2.87 from a fountain outside of the Logan Country Courthouse. Romine later said she took the money so she could feed herself and her cats, but police say she lied when an officer questioned her about the fountain change.
According to WBNS-TV, an online campaign has raised more than $14,000 to help Romine, who has pleaded not guilty. She faces a trial next month.
