Bill de Blasio, the Democratic candidate for Mayor of New York, wouldn’t be where he is without the unforgettable afro of his 15-year-old son Dante.  TV ads starring de Blasio’s telegenic biracial family helped him win a hotly contested primary. Now, running 50 points ahead of Republican Joe Lhota, the de Blasio clan is hitting the airwaves once again. In a new ad responding to Lhota’s accusations that the Democrat’s stance on crime will bring back the tarnished New York of the ’90s, de Blasio’s daughter Chiara, wearing a headband of pink flowers, pushes back: “Now that my Dad is on the move, his opponents are on the attack,” she says.  At the end, she even gives a nod to her familial competitor: “All of this attention is a good thing, as long as it’s not your little brother,” Chiara says, rolling her eyes as the image of her brother in the last family campaign ad pops up next to her on the screen.
