Daisy Coleman was a cheerleader at Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri. Matthew Barnett was on the football team.

The teenage girl at the center of an alleged rape case in Missouri wrote about her experience in vivid detail on Friday, adding another layer to a controversy that has brought international attention to a rural Midwestern town.

Daisy Coleman, who says that she and her friend were raped by two 17-year-old boys in early 2012, wrote in a blog post that her life since that January night “has been a long, reckless winter.”

Recalling the vicious backlash she and her family have endured in Maryville, Mo., since she made her accusation, Coleman wrote on the blog xojane: “Why would I even want to believe in a God? Why would a God even allow this to happen? I lost all faith in religion and humanity. I saw myself as ugly, inside and out. If I was this ugly on the inside, then why shouldn’t everyone see the ugly I saw?”

The case  — which a county prosecutor dropped two months after a report was filed, for what he called a lack of evidence and the victims’ refusal to cooperate — sparked greater interest months later when the hacking activist group Anonymous campaigned on Coleman’s behalf online.

Greater media scrutiny of the case let to more outcry — one of the accused boys is the grandson of a prominent local politician — and also led the county prosecutor, Robert Rice, to request Wednesday that a special prosecutor reexamine the case.

Coleman, who was 14 at the time, alleges that she was left on her family’s front porch in below-freezing temperatures after she says the boys raped her.

Read more excerpts from her post — titled “I’m Daisy Coleman, The Teenager At The Center Of The Maryville Rape Media Storm, And This Is What Really Happened” — below:

Days seemed to drag on as I watched my brother get bullied and my mom lose her job. Ultimately our house burned to the ground.

On Twitter and Facebook, I was called a skank and a liar and people encouraged me to kill myself. Twice, I did try to take my own life.

When I went to a dance competition I saw a girl there who was wearing a T-shirt she made. It read: “Matt 1, Daisy 0.”

Indeed, we must figure out how to protect young people ... FROM THEMSELVES.

Clearly a serious crime occurred and it is disgusting to hear people rant about how the child is responsible for these rapists actions. That is so much BS. These rapists belong in jail. This is pretty clear. So get your head out of your arses and see that justice is done.

Appalling- My thoughts and heart are with this young lady. Well done to anonymous for bringing this atrocity to international attention.  It is simply intolerable.

JUSTICE- will be done- one way or a other.

On one hand you have those who believe a 14 year old girl plied with alcohol to the point of unconsciousness ought to be held accountable for 'foolish' decisions, and then there are others who ask how it is that a young man can force himself on an incapacitated child and not for one moment stop to think that they might be doing something wrong or abusive.

Which raises the question what is it about our culture where young men go about claiming their innocence and worse their parents now screaming from the top of their lungs that it is their son who is really innocent.....and of course the real victim....???

What happened to men taking responsibility for their actions…?

Today's  lesson in logic : If you give a person drugs or get them drunk & rape them it's the person's fault for being there & not yours. Continuing this line of reasoning, that means that if you give a person drugs or get them drunk & then take their wallet, money, credit cards, etc & open accounts in their name, it's not really stealing & ID theft because it's the person's fault for being there. In both cases the perp  should go free because it's the victim's fault for just being there.

@ScallywagNYC: "What happened to men taking responsibility for their actions…?"

Females too, it's not a one-way street. Parents should teach their daughters not to put themselves in highly precarious and dangerous situations. There is always an opportunist waiting, be they male or female.

@IDontTellLOL @ScallywagNYC RIGHT! When we were teens, our parents taught us not to drink ANYTHING  at parties at the houses of people who were not our close neighbors....no alcohol of course, but sodas & punch can be spiked, too... unless you opened it yourself or  you saw an adult supervisor open it & to not drink again from a drink that you set down on a table, for even a second.   Parties had to be adult supervised or we didn't go.We girls were also told to avoid being alone with men who were drinking  & to stay with  pals coming & going. If we saw something dangerous or threatening starting, we were to call home immediately & LEAVE. TO HELL with all aspects of peer pressure to stay or do wrong !! All parents in our neighborhood were like that. When I first started teaching, many kids said their parents told them the same things. However, it seems that many of today's parents, in their ignorant zeal to be "their kids' friends" often fail to teach their kids basic life skills, personal responsibility & caution on the assumption that "today's kids are smarter & more sophisticated than we were at that age". WRONG !! They NEED adult guidance, rules , empathy for others & boundaries. Many kids have a shocking lack of basic common sense. You have to be dumb as a sack of rocks to take photos or videos of yourselves committing crimes & then post them on youtube, facebook, or other social media so the WHOLE WORLD can see them, including your enemies,& others who'll tell on you just to watch the resulting drama !!. Who breeds these idiots? Sterilize all of them, parents & kids! There are enough wackos in the world !!
