Two convicted murderers are on the loose in the U.S. after the men were released by mistake from a Florida prison.

Fooled by forged court documents, officials at the Franklin Correctional Institution in Carrabelle thought the pair’s sentences had been reduced, state authorities said on Wednesday.

Charles Walker, 34, left the prison on Oct. 8, according to local media reports. He was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder. 34-year-old Joseph Jenkins, who was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, was released from the same facility on Sept. 27.

A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Corrections said it is unclear how the falsified paperwork appeared. The department is reviewing court orders to ensure no other inmates have been unintentionally released.
