A man was shot dead in Chicago early Thursday, allegedly by the person he stopped to ask directions from, the Associated Press reports.

The shooter got in the back seat and robbed Robert Franklin, a 55-year-old man from Arkansas, and his friend by gunpoint. He then left the car and shot Franklin four times in the back, according to police spokesman Officer Jose Estrada. Franklin’s friend drove him to the hospital around 4 a.m. where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect has not been apprehended, Estrada said.
