What’s worse than stealing candy from a baby? Stealing candy, and then leaving the baby.

A woman allegeldy tried to run out of a pharmacy in New York City’s financial district with hundreds of dollars worth of candy, leaving her one-year-old infant behind in the process, local news website DNAinfo reported Wednesday.

Michelle Calderon, 23, and two accomplices stuffed $250 worth of cough drops, gum and Tic Tacs into the baby boy’s stroller early on Oct. 7, but a worker confronted them and grabbed the stroller, with the baby inside, as they stormed out, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal complaint. All three were later caught and charged with robbery, abandonment of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Calderon was being held on $15,000 bail, and it wasn’t clear if she had an attorney who could comment on her behalf. The baby was taken by the local child services agency.
