Officials in the Connecticut town where 26 were killed in a horrific school shooting last year are making sure every remnant of the building is completely destroyed after its demolition later this year.
“We’re going to every possible length to eliminate any possibility that any artifacts from the building would be taken from the campus and… end up on eBay” Newtown First Selectman E. Patricia Llodra said Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Not only will all metals from the Sandy Hook Elementary School be melted down and all extra materials completely pulverized, but contractors will have to sign confidentiality agreements so that no information about the new building, set to open in late 2016, is leaked.
Workers have also been hired to prevent onlookers from taking videos and pictures during the demolition process, which will start next week and finish before the shooting’s one year anniversary December 14.
