Leatrice Brewer — who drowned her 1, 5, and 6-year-old children in her Long Island, NY apartment in February of 2008 — is now seeking a portion of their $350,000 estate.

Brewer, 33, was found not guilty of the bathtub drownings due to mental disease or defect. She reportedly believed she was saving her children from a voodoo curse and then tried (and failed) to commit suicide twice.

While her attorneys believe she shouldn’t be subject to the state law that prevent convicts from making money off of their crimes, the AP reports that Brewer probably wouldn’t receive any of the money because of a $1.2 million debt for her psychiatric counseling and services.

She’s currently in a New York state psychiatric hospital and is expected to testify about her estate request next month.
