In the latest casualty of the ongoing government shutdown, the National Transportation Safety Board will not be sending investigators to the site of a deadly Tennessee bus crash because they have been furloughed.

A spokesperson for the NTSB confirmed Thursday to NBC News that the federal agency’s highway investigators, who would likely otherwise have been sent, were staying home.

In Wednesday’s fiery crash, a church bus carrying mostly senior citizens overturned east of Knoxville and collided with a tractor trailer and an SUV, killing eight people and injuring 14 others.
