A man walked into his former Long Island workplace and allegedly opened fire Wednesday morning, leaving one dead and at least one injured, police said. The latter victim was in surgery Wednesday afternoon.

The gunman, identified by police as Sang Ho Kim, entered the offices of energy efficiency company Savenergy Inc. at about 10:10 a.m., wearing a red shirt and brown jacket, theĀ Wall Street Journal reports. CNN reports that Kim is a former Savenergy employee.

After firing several shots, Kim fled the scene in a white sports utility vehicle and was still at large Wednesday afternoon, Nassau County police Chief Steven Skrynecki said during a news conference.

After reports of shots fired first came in, police locked down a nearby mall in East Garden City. They allowed customers to leave at about 1 p.m, but were still prohibiting entrance into the mall.

East Garden City schools were also alerted to not allow anyone to enter. Nassau Community College took similar measures.

At least two FBI agents were on the scene, according to Newsday. Police were still canvassing surrounding areas Wednesday afternoon.
