So much for karma.
An effort to save a cat wandering dangerously along a Florida highway ended in tragedy Monday evening when an oncoming car struck the would-be savior who had stopped his own car, leaving the second driver dead, the Good Samaritan in critical condition — and killing the cat, after all.
Michael James Schneider had stopped his car on the side of the highway north of Miami and was walking back toward the cat when he entered the roadway and was hit by the other car, the Miami Herald reports. That car swerved into Schneider’s parked car and then into the guardrail, killing the second driver and throwing Schneider into the grass.
The cat also died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
